MOUNTAIN ESSENTIALS course: Crevasse rescue – 1 day
400€/day group from 1 to 4 – 1 day 450€/day group from 5 to 6 maximum.
You will learn how to use of the crevasse rescue gear, to prusik out and to set up a double-Mariner hoist to perform a classic crevasse rescue. You will realize the complexity of the background needed pour to improve your safety. When walking on a glacier such as Glacier Blanc, one of the the main danger is to fall into a crevasse.
A crevasse rescue training, adapted to your needs. The advice of this course is based on awareness, anticipation, prevention and resourcefulness. MOUNTAIN ESSENTIALS® course stress the importance of developing the analytical and strategic skills needed to recognise and avoid potentially dangerous situations. It helps to improve the safety with a better knowledge, a better experience and capability. This course incorporate new methods internationally recognized by professionals of safety.
Getting into this course is the best way to get the most up to date tools to prepare, to organize and to manage a day in the mountain (off-pist, ski touring, back country skiing, alpinism…). The course is based on:

To prepare this course, 2 handbooks very helpful: MOUNTAIN ESSENTIALS® – WALKING ON A GLACIER is the dedicated practical handbook you have to get. MOUNTAIN ESSENTIALS® – ICE, SNOW and MIXED: TECHNIQUES and STRATEGIES is the advanced level.
Day 1
Practical exercises on the ground (if possible Girose glacier at la Grave).

9h10 Check of the equipment and safety material: rescue kit, harness, gear rack, transceiver, probe, shovel, helmet, backpack, first-aid kit, goggle,…)
10h Practical exercises on the ground
-Positives strategies (distance, breaking points, communication in the group, reading the snow and the terrain, danger signs…)
-Dealing with an incident, an accident / calling the rescue services + first-aid kit
-Rescue Scenario = for example prusik out from a crevasse
-Rescue Scenario = for example preparing an unassisted hoist (double-Mainer)

MOUNTAIN ESSENTIALS course: Avalanche training – 1 day
To prepare this course: MOUNTAIN ESSENTIALS® – SKI TOURING is a practical handbook definitely up to date.

You will learn how to use the safety gear (transceiver, probe, shovel) and we will review the avalanche phenomena, travel techniques, decision making strategies, and avalanche rescue. You will realize the complexity of the background needed pour to improve your safety. A snow and avalanche course, adapted to your needs, guided by a professional Mountain guide (IFMGA). The advice of this course is based on awareness, anticipation, prevention and resourcefulness. MOUNTAIN ESSENTIALS® course stress the importance of developing the analytical and strategic skills needed to recognise and avoid potentially dangerous situations. It helps to improve the safety with a better knowledge, a better experience and capability. This course incorporate new methods internationally recognized by professionals of safety. Day 1
The morning time focuses on new methods, on topography & snow conditions, on human factors and risk exposure of the group. The afternoon is the time for practical exercices. Example of typical day
